Overview
One of the 276 Thevara Paadal petra sthalams. About 1 kilometres South West of Thirunellikkaa Thevaara temple en route Thirukollikkaadu. The place is called Thengur in the name of the Sthala Vruksham Thennai (coconut tree). This paadal petra sthalam is situated 15 Kilometres from Tiruvarur on the way to Tirutturaipoondi and is about 2 Kilometres from Tirunellikaval and about 1 Kilometres. from Tirukollikkaadu.The temple is specified in the songs of Saint Tirugnana Sambandar.This is the 116th Shiva temple on the southern bank of Cauvery applauded in psalms. pujas are praised in the temple on Vaikasi Visakam day in May-June.
About The Temple
This is a little antiquated temple with no incredible merriments. The Navagraha Lingas named after the planets-Sun, Moon, Mars-Sevvai or Mangal, Mercury the Budha, Guru the Jupiter, Venus the Shukra, Sani the Saturn and the two serpent planets Rahu and Ketu are kept up securely in the temple. These Lingas are in the prakara in a line in different sizes-of all shapes and sizes. It is the aficionados' confidence that all antagonistic planetary angles will be mitigated by revering these Lingas that had converged with Lord Shiva amid a Rahu-Ketu move period. Other than these Lingas, the temple has the conventional Navagraha altar as well. The altar of Mother Perianayaki is on the right half of the passage.
About The Deity
Mother Mahalakshmi had stayed in this blessed spot performing compensation on Lord Shiva. There was a tank here with both white and red Lotus blossoms. It is currently dry. Legend and Stories
